Prior to Patch 6.0, the Aether Compass was found in the Key Items tab of your inventory. It is used to locate Aether Currents in the field and can be found in the Collection menu. The Aether Compass gives you the bearing and distance to the nearest Aether Current upon use. The same quest that awards the player the Black Chocobo and Aether Compass.
Aether Currents are unlocked after completing the level 50 Heavensward MSQ Divine Intervention.
